Officials with the North Central District Health Department say it is time to get your annual flu shot.
Public Information Officer, Jennifer Jones said vaccines are now available in the 13 counties that are in the district.
"We are pleased to announce that flu vaccines are now available in Bibb County and the other 12 counties we serve," Jones said.
Judy McCarghe, Nurse Manager for the District Health Department told 13WMAZ the flu shots are quick and easy.
In a studio appearance on Eyewitness News Midday, McCarghe said, "Being vaccinated is the best way to protect your health and the health of your family."
"We never know when the flu will start circulating in our area, so it is best to get the shot now, McCarghe said.
The Bibb County health department will hold a special drive-through clinic Monday, September 16th, 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Flu vaccines will cost $25, but are available at no charge to those on Medicaid, Peachcare, Wellcare, Amerigroup, Medicare Part B, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, or a State Benefit Plan through United Healthcare or Cigna. No appointment is necessary to receive the flu vaccine.
The Bibb health department is open weekdays 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and located at 171 Emery Hwy. in Macon.
