ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is set to hold its annual insect festival.
The Insect-ival Family Festival is scheduled for Sept. 21 at the garden at the University of Georgia on Sept. 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A butterfly release will happen at 11 a.m. on the lawn of the International Garden.
The festival will include discovery stations, roach and beetle races, an insect cafe, puppet shows and lots of live insects. Participants can hold a hissing cockroach, play games, jump like an insect and look at active beehive to learn more about insects and their environments.
The festival is sponsored by the garden, EarthShare of Georgia, the UGA Lund Club, the UGA department of entomology and the Georgia Museum of Natural History.
