ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia's governor has appointed a new Department of Juvenile Justice board member.
Department Commissioner Avery Niles on Friday announced the appointment of Julia Neighbors to the Board of Juvenile Justice. Neighbors is the project manager for JUSTGeorgia, a statewide juvenile justice coalition that was involved in the recent rewrite of the state's juvenile code.
She is also a former senior attorney with the Fulton County Office of the Child Attorney and was previously Executive Director of Fulton County Court Appointed Special Advocates, Inc.
Board members are appointed by the governor to advise the department and provide leadership and guidance to the Commissioner. The board is made up of 15 members representing each congressional district.
