JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) - A man who was identified as a murder suspect in his victim's diary has been sentenced to life in prison.
A judge sentenced 21-year-old Marshae Hickman to life in prison without parole plus 20 years in the death of 15-year-old Candice Parchment. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Friday reported (http://bit.ly/Yabcwb ) Hickman is also ordered to serve a concurrent 50-year sentence for trying to rape Parchment before the girl was killed in 2010.
In her diary, the girl wrote Hickman and another man tried raping her in an abandoned house. The girl was later stabbed and strangled to death. Her body was hidden beneath a mattress in a wooded area for seven months.
