ATLANTA (WXIA) -- Aimee Copeland's story gripped metro Atlanta last summer.

Copeland, the young Georgia woman, who contracted a flesh-eating bacteria while zip-lining and found herself fighting for her life took her first steps with her new prosthetic limbs. During her accident she lost her left leg and right foot.

Copeland sent 11Alive a video of her taking her first steps a couple of weeks ago.

"It's like this freeing let go when youre standing. It's like this effortless feeling. It felt great," Aimee told 11Alive's Matt Pearl.

Copeland is being fitted for bionic arms and will also be receiving a service dog soon.
