ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - A University of Georgia student says he's "very lucky" to be alive after someone stabbed him in the chest during a fight.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports (http://bit.ly/ZFyB2A ) 21-year-old Fillip Mirzoev has been released from the hospital. He says doctors had to repair a severed artery in his chest and re-inflate a collapsed lung after the April 11 attack.
Police charged another student, Aliammar Malani, with aggravated assault in the stabbing outside an Athens apartment complex. Mirzoev says they used to be friends.
Mirzoev was stabbed in the chest with a pocket knife. He staggered away into an apartment and collapsed.
The student says he's supposed to have 15 surgical staples removed at the end of the month and has withdrawn from school while he recovers.
