ATLANTA (AP) - State regulators have approved Georgia Power's costs so far to build two nuclear reactors at Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Georgia Public Service Commission gave the approval at a meeting Tuesday.

With the project now several months behind schedule and cost increases looming, the commission also asked the utility to come up with new projections for when the work will be finished.

Georgia Power customers have been paying for the reactors through a monthly fee on utility bills since 2011.

In its most recent report to the PSC, the utility said the cost of the project has risen to $6.2 billion from $6.1 billion, but the company has not asked to collect any more money from customers at this time.
