ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - The famed Boston Pops orchestra is coming to Georgia.
The University of Georgia is set to host the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra at the Classic Center Theatre on Feb. 27.
The Pops will play a tribute to the late Oscar - and Tony - winning composer Marvin Hamlisch. The program will feature some of Hamlisch's most well-known themes from musical theater and film, including "Through the Eyes of Love" from "Ice Castles" and the overture to "A Chorus Line."
Vocalist and award-winning songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway will join the orchestra in the second half of the program to salute the songs of Barbra Streisand. Callaway will perform "The Way We Were," ''Don't Rain on My Parade," and a medley of "People" and "Being Alive" featuring jazz pianist Ted Rosenthal.
