ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - President Barack Obama is awarding an Albany woman a 2012 Presidential Citizens Medal for her work in addressing obesity in children.
The Albany Herald reports Pamela Green-Jackson will join other award recipients at the White House on Feb. 15.
Green-Jackson is the founder and CEO of the Youth Becoming Healthy Project, which is a nonprofit aimed at reducing childhood obesity through physical activities, fitness education and nutrition.
Green-Jackson has worked with food service managers to advocate for healthier breakfast and lunch menus, and to change contents of school vending machines.
Established in 1969, the Citizens Medal recognizes exemplary community service efforts.
