AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - Former state Rep. Jack Connell of Augusta, who served more than three decades in the Georgia House of Representatives, has died at the age of 93.
Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors in Augusta said Thursday that services for Connell are planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Augusta.
The Augusta Chronicle reports Connell died Wednesday. The Democrat served 34 years in the Georgia House, where he spent 26 years as speaker pro tempore, its No. 2 position.
Connell also owned and managed several local businesses over the years.
