Swainsboro School Bus Driver Shot After Argument at Party

SWAINSBORO, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities in east Georgia are investigating the death of a school bus driver who was gunned down at a party.

Emanuel County Coroner Walter Peebles tells The Augusta Chronicle that 49-year-old Robert Parrish Jr. was repeatedly shot in the head. Peebles said his body was found in a vacant lot in Swainsboro on Sunday night, and his death has been ruled a homicide.

Swainsboro Police Chief Randy Ellison tells WJBF-TV the shooting happened around 8 p.m. Sunday, during at an Easter party attended by more than 100 people. Ellison said an argument between Parrish and another man ended in gunfire.

WJBF reports that Parrish was a school bus driver for Emanuel County. He was also a husband and father of two children.

Swainsboro is about 170 miles southeast of Atlanta.
