Kings Chapel Elementary had hundreds of special visitors Friday.

The Houston County School hosted students' grandparents at its annual Grandparents' Day Celebration.

"It has been awesome. Awesome. Awesome," said second grader Gracie Bliss.

Students in Ms Claxton's class read a poem aloud, proclaiming grandparents' love for their grandchildren.

"That really touched my heart. Really did," said Gracie's grandmother, Sharon Seabolt.

"I like to see them a lot," said Gracie. "Makes me happy."

Mary Davis enjoyed a school lunch with her granddaughter, Khaliah Stubys.

"She's an A student. And that's all that matters," said Davis. "As long as they please grandmama, everything else is fine. They get rewarded very well."

"I used to live where my grandpa and grandma were," said third grader Benjamin Driscoll."

Driscoll's grandparents made a small journey to show up for Grandparents' Day.

"We came from Rock Falls, Illinois, where Ben used to live close by," said Cindy McCleary.

"I was sort of surprised because I thought they weren't going to come," said Benjamin.

McCleary didn't mind the drive. For her and Thomas, Ben's grandfather, it's all worth it.

"It's really nice to see how he progresses, and how he's grown and learned. Not every school does this, and we really appreciate Kings Chapel."
