"It was a great opportunity, any money towards college helps because college is very expensive," explained Houston County High Senior, Lesley Sheeley.

Wednesday is Law Day in Houston County and in honor of the day dedicated in 1958 by President Eisenhower, the Houston County Bar Association presented six high school seniors with a $500 scholarship for college.

This year's theme is 'Realizing the dream., equality for all'.
To be applicable for the award students had to write an essay on the issue of equality facing the 21st century.

Artrevious King, senior at Houston County High, explained what he wrote about.

"I wanted to one day make it where the same nutritional food can be done cheaper and still be high quality that way everyone can experience the same food."

King plans to make that a reality by attending Georgia Southern University in the fall, and majoring in healthcare and nutritional science.

Here's a list of scholarship recipients:

William Cowart, Senior at Houston County High

Jearlon Butler, Senior at Veterans High

Somnath Das, Senior at Veterans High

Artrevious King, Senior at Houston County High

Lesley Sheeley, Senior at Houston County High

Cara Thomas, Senior at Northside High

The students also received a pen and a clock from Houston County Board of Commissioners.
