Bibb County's Teacher of the Year was honored today with a surprise visit from Macon's Mayor Robert Reichert, as he named March 6 in her honor.
Westside High School marketing instructor and work-based learning coordinator Katie Wall is this year's Bibb Teacher of the Year.
"It's very overwhelming, it's exciting to receive recognition for your efforts in the classroom and in the community. Very humbled actually," said Wall as the Mayor delivered the surprise proclamation.
Wall said she thinks that her students will get a kick out of her receiving the honor. She has been teaching for four years, but says she shares this honors with all of the other great instructors in Bibb County.
"I think it should go to all the teachers because I am not the only one, there are over 2,000 other teachers in this district that do the same thing, that go above and beyond for their students," said Wall. "Hopefully, it will be Katie Wall day, but also Bibb County teachers' day."
