Bibb County School Superintendent Romain Dallemand says he intends to serve out his new three-year contract signed last month.
At a school board budget meeting Tuesday night, we asked Dallemand about reports from two board members that he had proposed leaving office in return for a contract buyout.
Dallemand deflected questions about whether he proposed a buyout.
"I am not one who's going to violate the Open Meeting law by discussing things that occurred in executive session."
But he told 13WMAZ's Candace Adorka: "My goal is to finish the three years I have in my contract."
"My goal is to finish the work that I started," Dallemand said.
Dallemand is embroiled in new controversy over the school district's financial relationship with the Macon Promise Neighborhood program.
Chief Financial Officer Ron Collier says Dallemand reassigned him to another job after he questioned the legality of a one-million-dollar payment to a non-profit group with ties to Promise Neighborhood.
Collier has sued to reclaim his old job. A court hearing on the suit is scheduled for Friday.
An audit also revealed that Dallemand and school board President Tommy Barnes committed to the school district to a 10-year, $5.75-million lease of part of the old Ballard-Hudson Middle School building on Anthony Road as an adult-education center for the Promise Neighborhood program. The district had sold the building as surplus for $220,000 in 2009.
