Bibb County schools crowned its latest teacher of the year Thursday night.
At a banquet at the Anderson Conference Center, Superintendent Romain Dallemand named Katie Wall, a Westside High School marketing teacher, the 2013 Teacher of the Year.
He honored 42 exceptional teachers selected from each school before announcing Wall from five finalists.
Each of the finalists received a gift basket and $250 from Kroger. In addition to the gift basket, Wall got $500 from Kroger, and another $1000 from MidSouth Federal Credit Union.
She says the real prize is the recognition from colleagues and students.
"It is validation that I'm doing what I was called to do," said Wall. "I was called to teach and it's complete validation that I'm where I'm supposed to be."
Wall has until November 30 to submit her application for the Georgia Teacher of the Year.
