This Saturday, Bibb County Schools are hosting a Community Education Day Summit.
In a news release, the district says the event will be the first in a series of efforts to encourage community members to get involved or become more involved in the education process.
People will have the opportunity to talk about issues affecting Bibb students: engaging our community, quality education, enhanced learning opportunities and parental involvement.
The Bibb School District's Welcome Center is working to engage the faith, civic and non-profit community.
Bibb Schools Coordinator of Parent and Community Education, Terrance Smith, says "We are excited about the opportunity to share information about our Parent Academy, which provides free courses to assist parents to become more equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to assist themselves and their children in excelling personally and academically."
The Community Education Day Summit will be Saturday, Nov. 3 at Covenant Church of Jesus Christ, at 509 May Ave. in Macon. The event runs from 10a.m. until noon.
