This week's My Teacher Is Tops winner is a Twiggs Academy teacher that knows how to explain a variety of subjects from science to history. But students said it's her lessons on kindness that they will take with them in the future.
Middle school teacher, Terri Dykes, said she couldn't believe that not one, but two of her students, eighth graders Dylan Howell and Cody Bates, sent letters to 13WMAZ nominating her for My Teacher Is Tops.
"I chose Miss Terri Dykes because I have had her for three years and she has been my favorite teacher every year," said Dylan Howell of Jeffersonville.
"She is just great understanding person and I love her just as a regular person. She's a big kid just like us," said Cody Bates of Macon.
Students said Miss Terri Dykes makes class by fun by constantly engaging students with questions about the material. Dykes said it's a way to keep students on their toes and constantly learning.
"It's something they got to do year after year, so you might as well make it so they like it or like it more so than they would, they get a lot more out of it," said Dykes.
Other student said while science may not be their favorite subject, the class is tops because of the middle school teacher.
"She won't be mean like the science teachers who you don't get anything, you don't get, you ask her, she'll explain it to you and she kind of makes it better," said Olivia Sanders of Danville.
"She's the kind of person who isn't just your teacher, she's a friend and she's there for you and she'll always help you if you are having a rough time she'll say the right thing to help you get better and do the best that you can for the rest of the day," said Owen Nobles of Danville.
