MACON, GA - WMAZ-TV, the Gannett-owned CBS affiliate in Macon, GA announced today that it will add The CW Network as a multicast channel on October 14, 2013. The programming will be broadcast on the station's digital channel WMAZ-DT 13.2.
For the first time, viewers with over-the-air antennas will be able to access The CW Network in central Georgia. Additionally, COX Communications plans to carry the programming locally on COX digital channel 3. Bulldog Cable, ComSouth, Flint Cable, Forsyth Cable, Mediacom, Suburban Cable and Watson Cable also plan to carry the new channel. Updates on other area providers will be posted to 13wmaz.com as information becomes available.
The launch of the new digital channel will bring more local news and weather to the community. WMAZ will add two local newscasts each weekday to channel 13.2: a 30-minute local newscast each weeknight at 10:00 p.m. and a 30-minute local newscast each weekday morning at 7:00 a.m.
WMAZ will continue to broadcast all of its current programming, including the market's top-rated CBS network programming, on the station's primary channel, 13.1.
The CW Network was formed in 2006 as a joint venture between Warner Bros. Entertainment and CBS Corporation. The network's primetime schedule includes such popular series as "Arrow", "The Vampire Diaries", "Supernatural", "America's Next Top Model", "Hart of Dixie", and "Beauty and the Beast."
