BAXLEY, Ga. (AP) - Police say a 26-year-old man who was arrested in his wife's death after initially saying two men killed her in a home invasion last week is being allowed to attend her funeral.
WSAV-TV (http://bit.ly/ULG4RX ) reports Appling County Sheriff Benny Deloach will escort Jonathan Courson to a funeral Thursday for his 28-year-old wife, Mandy.
Courson initially told police that two black men forced their way into the couple's home Jan. 4, tied them up and killed her. Police say Courson eventually became a target of their investigation. Authorities say Courson obtained an attorney and later surrendered to police.
Deen Strickland, Courson's attorney, says he is in the preliminary stages of probing the situation and will request bond for his client, who is being held in the Appling County Jail.
