George McGovern, the three-term senator from South Dakota and 1972 presidential candidate whose candidacy was marred by a running mate forced to withdraw over mental health issues, has died. He was 90.
McGovern's 1972 campaign influenced the Democratic Party in the decades that followed and greatly changed the party's rules over how future presidential candidates and party leaders were chosen.
He devoted much of his last three decades to anti-hunger issues, teaming with former senator Bob Dole, a Republican and one-time adversary in the Senate, to establish school-lunch programs in some of the world's poorest nations.

There are 16 days until the election and tomorrow night will be the last time voters get to see the two presidential candidates face off on the issues.
Danielle Nottingham has the latest from Boca Raton Florida.
<< Mitt Romney took a break from debate practice in Florida to watch his staffers take on the media in a flag football game.

(NATS) SOMETHING FROM BEACH

The GOP challenger joked that he had a strategy for victory.

(ROMNEY NAT SOT) "FIGURE OUT WHICH OF THEIR PLAYERS IS THE BEST AND TAKE THEM OUT EARLY!"

The Governor's team says the debates helped make this race a dead heat.

(:18-:28)(SOT SEN. MARCO RUBIO/(R) FLORIDA) THE PRESIDENT HAD CREATED THIS FALSE IMAGE OF MITT ROMNEY IN THE MINDS OF SOME VOTERS THAT WAS COMPLETELY KNOCKED DOWN. AND I THINK NOW WHAT IS BECOMING APPARANT IN THESE DEBATES IS THAT THE PRESIDENT HAD NO PLAN FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS.

Aides to President Barack Obama say he DOES have a plan. .

(:34-:43)(SOT Stephanie Cutter \Obama deputy campaign manager) MITT ROMNEY OUGHT TO COME OUT ON THE TRAIL WITH US AND COME TO SOME OF OUR RALLIES AROUND THE COUNTRY, THAT WOULD BE FUN, AND LISTEN TO WHAT THE PRESIDENT IS SAYING."

(:43-:52)(STANDUP: DANIELLE NOTINGHAM/BOCA RATON, FLORIDA)

This is the last day of the Mossy Creek Festival.

Plenty of airline passengers bring their tablets on board to pass the time on a long flight.
But those same devices are finding a place in the cockpit, with a much different purpose.
Karin Caifa (prono: KAY-fuh) takes us up to the flight deck, in this week's Clicked In.
<<YOU'VE SEEN PILOTS WHEELING THESE BAGS, BUT WHAT'S INSIDE?
PAPER. A 35 OR 40 POUND HAUL ON DOMESTIC FLIGHTS. MORE ON INTERNATIONAL ROUTES.
AMERICAN AIRLINES RECENTLY BECAME THE FIRST CARRIER TO GET F-A-A CLEARANCE TO TRADE THAT CLUNKY FLIGHT BAG FOR THIS -- AND USE IPADS HERE IN THE COCKPIT DURING ALL PHASES OF FLIGHT.
Our airport diagrams, our departure procedures, our arrival. In addition to that, we have aircraft manuals on the iPad.
CAPTAIN DAVID CLARK SAYS PLACEMENT IS KEY. NO OBSTRUCTING THE EMERGENCY EXIT, OXYGEN MASK, OR VIEW OF GROUND PERSONNEL.
SUCTION CUPS HOLD THE IPAD IN PLACE, FLIGHT CHARTS ARE UPDATED WITH A TOUCH, AND THERE ARE NO LOST PAGES. WITH ONE PER PILOT, THERE'S BACKUP.
Battery life in the iPad itself is about 10 hours for average use, and we carry a spare battery.
SO IF THE F-A-A SAYS THE PILOT CAN USE HIS IPAD DURING TAXI, TAKEOFF AND LANDING, WHY CAN'T PASSENGERS? first of all - the pilot's iPADS are on airplane mode. ALSO - THE NUMBER OF PASSENGER DEVICES BACK IN THE CABIN RAISES SOME UNCERTAINTY.
The industry hasn't come up with an acceptable test standard to truly determine if in those infinite combinations there's interference
UNITED AND ALASKA ARE AMONG OTHER AIRLINES USING IPADS TO STREAMLINE MANUALS.
AMERICAN ESTIMATES THEY'LL SAVE ONE-POINT-TWO MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR IN FUEL COSTS BY OFF-LOADING THE EXTRA POUNDS. THE GOAL IS TO DITCH ALL PAPER, BY JANUARY.
I'M KARIN CAIFA, AND YOU'RE NOW CLICKED IN. >>
