In Georgia, there's good news for motorists ahead of the July 4th holiday.
AAA Auto Club South indicates the price of gas is falling in time for many vacation travelers this month.
In an article in Monday's Atlanta Business Chronicle, Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman said, "Although gas prices are higher than they were this time last year, the price trend is relatively the same with gas prices retreating before millions of Americans travel for Independence Day."
According to the newspaper, like last year, gas prices dropped prior to the busiest summer driving weekend. On average, pump prices in the Southeast fell 6 cents from last week, making it a little more affordable for motorists to travel this upcoming weekend.
Across the state, pump prices now average $3.36, compared with $3.44 a week ago and $3.14 a year ago.
Nationally, gas prices average $3.49, compared with $3.57 a week ago and $3.33 a year ago.
"About 41 million people plan to take a trip this holiday and gas prices are not expected to deter them," Brady said.
