The economic impact of 18 days of production for the movie "42" in Macon is estimated to be as much as $2 million dollars.
According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development's event impact calculator, the impact of the film on the local economy is estimated at between $1.4 and $2 million.
The production employed 300-400 crew members and more than 1,000 extras, half of whom came from the Macon area.
Scenes were filmed at Luther Williams Field at Central City Park, the Terminal Station, several homes on High Street, and an old service station on Plum Street, all located in downtown Macon, and also a site in Jones County.
The Macon Film Commission worked with production scouts for the film back in the fall and found Macon had a lot to offer.
Film Commission Members say production crews from Sony, Dreamworks, Universal, Warner Brothers, and others have scouted Macon and the surrounding area for projects.
