SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - The Department of Behavioral Health and Development Disabilities is hosting a conference in Savannah focusing on promoting trauma recovery needs for Georgia veterans and their families.
The conference, titled "Unspoken Wounds: Breaking the Silence" started Sunday and runs through Oct. 22. Organizers say the program is sponsored by the department's jail diversion and trauma recovery program.
Organizers say department Commissioner Frank Berry, state Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens and Department of Veterans Services Assistant Commissioner Dan Holtz are among more than a dozen educators, care professionals and advocates who will be on hand for the conference.
