DENVER (AP) - The Air Force Academy says 27 cadets were injured in a brawl during an unofficial ritual marking the first snowfall of the season.
The school said Wednesday that six cadets were taken to an off-campus hospital after the Oct. 25 ruckus, and 23 were treated at the cadet clinic.
Brig. Gen. Dana Born says in an internal email that the injuries included concussions, cuts and a human bite. The email was provided to The Associated Press and other media outlets. Academy officials confirmed it is authentic.
It wasn't immediately known if any cadets were disciplined. A statement from the academy said "appropriate measures will be taken." The academy didn't say how many cadets were involved but says most weren't.
The ritual involves freshmen throwing cadet first sergeants into the snow.
