For some, early voting is about beating the long lines on election day.

"I always vote early, get it out of the way," says James Gilchrist from Macon.

Other people, like Anthony Rhynes, say they just can't wait to cast their ballots.

"You can talk about it, but talking isn't going to get anybody in office. You've got to get up and do something about it. You've got to vote."

With a new government taking over in January, some voters say it's even more important to head to the polls.

"The city and the county's merging, and I think people ought to come out and cast their vote, and then if they don't come out and cast their vote, then they shouldn't complain when all is over," says Elise Stevens.

Early voting runs through Friday, September 13th at the Macon-Bibb Board of Elections. Polls open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m.

People also get a Saturday to vote this year. The Board of Elections will open September 7th from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Election day is September 17th.
