Agriculture Comissioner Gary Black dropped by the studio today to whip up some smoked chicken and apple crisp for desert.
The recipe for Gigi's Apple Crisp is as follows:
- 6 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup water
- juice of 1 lemon
- 2 cups quick cooking oats
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 2 1/2 sticks butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine apples, water and lemon juice in an lightly greased 8x8 inch baking dish. In a bowl combine oatmeal, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Pour in the butter and stir to make a crumbly mixture. Spread mixture evenly over apples, bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is crisp and browned.
