Strawberry Romaine Salad
1 head romaine lettuce - cut bite sized
1 cup sliced strawberries
2 tablespoons sugared slivered almonds (See Recipe Below)
Poppy Seed Dressing (Chilled)
Place lettuce in a large bowl; add strawberries and almonds, tossing to combine. Divide salad evenly among 6 plates. Drizzle 1 tablespoon dressing over each serving.
YIELD: Makes 1 cup
1 cup slivered almonds
1/2 cup sugar
Stir together all ingredients in a heavy saucepan over medium heat, and cook, stirring constantly, 10 minutes or until golden. Spread mixture in an even layer on lightly greased wax paper, and let cool 20 minutes. Break into pieces, and store in an airtight container.
