For Terry Smith, the documentary "From One Second to the Next" hits close to home.
"My grandbabies are three years old, so when they talk about the three-year-old laying in the ditch, it's sobering," says Smith.
The 35-minute film portrays the stories of four families whose lives were changed in an instant because of a distracted driver.
"It takes the perspective of the person who was texting and driving, which is really just heart-rendering, as much as probably the families, because both families are destroyed. It also brings in law enforcement and what they bring to the table. In a couple of the vignettes they show, talk with the law enforcement official who came up on the accident or had to work the accident," explains Smith.
AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile are all major competitors in the wireless world, but they're on the same team when it comes to putting the brakes on texting while driving.
Smith says, "We all understand that there's nothing worth losing a life or creating such chaos that texting and driving does."
The video, put together by award-winning producer and director Werner Herzog, will be sent to schools, law enforcement centers, and other organizations around the country.
