A search for Lauren Giddings' remains Friday did not turn up any evidence, according to Jami Gaudet with the Macon Police Department.
Major Charles Stone with the police department says last week a woman told investigators she believes she saw Stephen McDaniel, who is accused of killing neighbor and classmate Giddings, come out of woods near Houston Road about two years ago.
Giddings' torso was found in a trash bin outside her Macon apartment in June 2011.
Investigators searched the woods just across the Houston County line near Highway 49 for about five hours Friday.
They were seen taking a bag out of the woods, but according to Gaudet, investigators "did not find what they were looking for."
The tipster told Stone a recent double homicide in Houston County jogged her memory about seeing who she believes she was McDaniel two years ago.
Sgt. Scott Chapman with Macon Police says they are finished searching that area and will continue following any lead in the search for Giddings' remains.
