The chief joined us on Eyewitness News Mornin' Tuesday and said he spoke with District Attorney Greg Winters about it on Monday. He says, "our district attorney is very methodical in what he does. He wants to make sure everything's right. But I expect things to move pretty quick."
When asked if the police department would oppose bond for McDaniel, Burns said "I don't think it will get to that point."
[We spoke with Burns several hours before indictments against McDaniel were handed up.]
Winters would not confirm when he plans to bring Stephen McDaniel before a grand jury, but he has until Monday to indict him, before he's entitled to have a judge set bond.
