A Fort Valley man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the beating death of a co-worker.
A Houston County jury convicted 45 year old Robert Gill, Jr. of felony murder, aggravated assault and aggravated battery Friday morning.
Last June, Gill met up with 41 year old Terry Carson at a parking lot on Highway 247 and started to fight.
The two worked together as contractors at Robins Air Force Base.
Witnesses broke up the fight and as Carson went to get in his truck to leave, Gill hit him in the back of the head with a piece of wood.
Carson died 2 days later from blunt force trauma to the head.
The judge sentenced Gill to life without the possibility of parole because of 3 prior felony convictions.
