Five days after a 36-year-old man was shot in Montezuma, Massie Deleon Larry turned himself in for the crime.

According to a news release, officers were trying to get a search warrant related to the shooting, which happened on May 31, when Larry contacted police.

He was arrested in Oglethorpe.

The victim, Tyrone Gill, remains in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon recovering from two surgeries for his wounds.

He was reportedly shot in the abdomen. Police met him at the Flint River Community Hospital.

Police say the shooting was the result of a disagreement between Gill and Larry.

Larry has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, 3rd degree cruelty to children and discharging a firearm from a public street.

The shooting remains under investigation.
