The death of a Macon 3-year-old has been ruled a homicide, caused by head injuries.

That's according to Bibb County coroner Leon Jones.

He said after an autopsy, GBI medical examiners ruled that Jarkarie Reid died from "blunt force head trauma."

His mother was charged Thursday with murdering the boy, after nitially blaming his collapse on nail polish chemical, according to a Macon police report.

A judge denied bond for his mother, 24-year-old Jameshia Reid, in her first court appearance Thursday.

She was charged with murder after her son died early Thursday.

The report says she told officers Wednesday that he may have passed out from drinking chemicals, like acetone and pedicure oil. that she'd left in the kitchen while doing her nails.

Police wrote that the found "numerous dangerous chemicals on the floor around the house. They didn't smell any chemicals on the boy's body," they wrote, but they did see several bruises.
