Macon police have arrested two men in a weekend shooting.

Police spokeswoman Melanie Hofmann says they've arrested 24-year-old Bernard Bullard and 18-year-old Markel Parks.

They're suspects in Sunday's fatal shooting of 18-year-old John Johnson III. Both men are charged with criminal attempt to commit murder.

Hofmann says the pair were arrested Tuesday morning by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Task Force.

The attempted murder charge was put in place before Johnson died, but now Hofmann says the charges will likely be escalated to murder.

Police say Johnson was shot at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday while driving near Forsyth Avenue and Payton Street in East Macon. Police found Johnson in his car with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

A police report says that the incident was gang-related.
