Macon police say one man was shot Monday night on Bright Street between 2nd Street and Jeff Davis, and another was shot hours later on Beddingfield Avenue, off Houston and Lynmore Avenues, in separate events.
The Bright Street victim told officers he was playing dominoes outside just before 7 p.m. when he was approached by two men in red shirts and blue pants. The assailants demanded he "give it up," according to the police news release.
He was shot in the right hand then taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia. The news release does not explain what, if anything, prompted the shooting.
About four hours later, officers responded to a call of shots fired at 787 Beddingfield Drive. The police were informed that a man had been shot in the leg then carried down the street by another man. Both men disappeared down a nearby alley, according to a police news release.
Police found the gunshot victim at the hospital. It is unclear whether why he was shot or how. No suspects were named in the news release.
Authorities urge anyone with information about these shootings to call the Macon Police Department at 478-751-7500 or, Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
(A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the Bright Street victim had been shot in the right knee, which was the information provided to 13WMAZ by the Macon Police.)
