George H.W. Bush is marking a special anniversary with a tweet. On this date 25 years ago, Bush took the oath of office as the nation's 41st president.

"Still hard to believe I had the honor to serve as President," Bush, now 89, posted on Twitter.

The George Bush Foundation is marking the anniversary with celebrations in Washington, D.C., and Texas. The Bush 41 alumni will first get together Thursday at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, with a weekend of events planned for April 4-6 in College Station, Texas, home of the Bush presidential library at Texas A&M University.

The former president has slowed down in his advancing age and uses a scooter or a wheelchair to get around because he suffers from vascular Parkinsonism. Bush was spotted Saturday cheering on Duke as the Blue Devils men's basketball team beat North Carolina State.
