Peach County is once again proving themselves to be a powerhouse in region 2-AAA.
They've got a starting safety who is doubling up and taking classes at Fort Valley State University.
For his skills on hitting the books and opponents, Justin Jones is our Athlete of the Week.
"I'm loving football," says the senior. And what's not to love, starting safety Justin Jones has helped his teammates topple the competition and pile up a perfect record this season.
Jusitin is a member of Mrs. Gina Clark's classroom, and she runs the Chemistry II class. She says her students don't have an easy ride.
"That Justin even signed up for this course is a lot because we do have a reputation in the AP program for being very strenous", says Clark.
That kind of a challenge is no problem. Justin's got a 92 overall average. He's ranked 9th in his class, and he also spends part of his days in class at Fort Valley State University.
"It's called the University Today Scholar", says Jones. "And it's a program where I can take my high school classes at the college, and they pay for it."
With the jumpstart on a college degree, Justin wants to take Mrs. Clark's class to a new level.
Jones says, "I want to go to school and major in chemistry, so I can become a pharmacist or something in the medical field."
For now the smart senior will keep plugging along for Peach County with the admiration of his coach for everything he's accomplishing on the field and off.
"Football will be over for him one day," says Coach Chad Campbell. "It could be this year or four years from now, but he's got that education to fall back on. And he takes that very serious."
Clark says she is really impressed with Justin because he's not afraid to ask questions. She says in the past he's even skipped lunch to come by and brush up on his lessons.
