Thank you for joining us for Eyewitness News at Six.
I'm Katelyn Heck.

Our top story tonight.... Macon police officers and SWAT teams surrounded a Tindall Heights Apartment for several hours earlier this afternoon. In what they believed what a hostage situation.
Macon Police say they got a call that an armed robbery suspect... Samuel Edwards Lawrence was at a Tindall Heights home.
Edwards is being sought by Macon police for several warrants including armed robbery... Aggravated assault... And probation violation.
They say the person who called in the situation... implying she was being held hostage.
But officers later found out...it was a false alarm.
Around 30 members of Macon Police took over this block of housing.
That includes a SWAT team...that went inside...but police say no one was inside the apartment.
Charles Stone, Macon Police: "It was a good exercise for them but we could have been answering other calls and doing other duties, so once we find out we are going to research and see who this person possible called it in and if we can make a case we'll make a case for a false report of and incident and somebody will be locked up."
This is the second false alarm this week.
On Monday...Macon police responded to what they believed was a hostage situation in west Macon.
In that situation, Macon police removed a woman from the home, but no one else was inside.
But Macon police say they will investigate who was behind the false hostage call in Tindall Heights....and that person could face a felony charge for a false report.
Macon police are still on the lookout for Edwards as well.
If you have any information... You can call the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME... Again that's 1-877-68-CRIME.

The Bibb County Sheriff's office says...a suicide attempt caused last night's fiery tanker accident...off of Interstate-475.
It happened around 11 o'clock on the northbound lane...near the Thomaston Road exit.
This is video from last night as firefighters were trying to put out the flames.
A press release from the sheriff's office says Nicholas Deonte Owens told officers... he got into his car after fighting with his wife.
He told them he saw the tanker getting off the interstate, accelerated his car and hit the tanker portion of the truck.
The sheriff's office says the flames from the collision burned Owens' legs but he was able to exit his car and run toward the interstate bridge.
Macon police officers saw him and turned Owens over to sheriff's deputies.
Crews spent this morning trying to repair some of the damage.
The driver of the tanker... Byron Cummings from Macon... Says he had just filled up with 75-hundred gallons of gasoline and 5-hundred gallons of diesel fuel.
He was not injured in the accident.
The Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation.
This morning, Owens was transferred from the Medical Center of Central Georgia to the Augusta Burn Center.

One shopper in Florida decided to take the law into his own hands.
When he saw another man shoplifting...he pulled his gun out...and started shooting.
Though the shooter says he was only trying to help...he and the suspect face charges.
Claire Metz has the story.
THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD ON THIS SILVER PONTIAC SUNFIRE IS SHATTERED...
BLASTED OUT BY A CIVILIAN WHO WAS CHASING AFTER A SUSPECTED SHOPLIFTER.
POLICE FOUND 3 OR 4 BULLET HOLES IN IT WHEN THEY FINALLY PULLED THE ACCUSED THIEF OVER.
"He knocked her down, I ran after him and this other guy was pursing him also..."
ANDREW BUONGIORNO SAYS THE ACCUSED SHOPLIFTER, THIS MAN, 42 YEAR OLD EDDIE MCKEE OF ORLANDO,TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM LOSS PREVENTION...WAS RUNNING OUT OF THE STORE WHEN HE KNOCKED DOWN BUONGIORNO'S WIFE ANN.
BUONGIORNO AND ANOTHER CITIZEN, WHO WAS ARMED, CHASED AFTER THE SUSPECTED THIEF, SCREAMING AT THE MCKEE.
"He had a gun drawn. We were telling him to stop. He threw his car in reverse, almost ran us over..."
BUONGIORNO SAYS THE SHOPLIFTER WAS TRYING TO HIT THEM AND SLAMMED INTO AT LEAST ONE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT, MAYBE MORE.. THATS WHEN THE ARMED CITIZEN, FIRED AT THE SHOPLIFTERS VEHICLE.
ANOTHER WITNESS WHO SAW IT ALL GOING DOWN CALLED 9-1-1.
"Their were two older gentleman chasing him down. One drew a gun, ripped open the guys car door, screamed 'freeze, freeze don't move' and then fired shots."
NO ONE WAS INJURED BY GUNFIRE...THOUGH IT WAS ALL HAPPENING IN THE CROWDED PARKING LOT IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, SHELL CASINGS LITTERED THE GROUND.
ANN BUONGIORNO HAD TO BE TREATED ON THE SCENE, HOWEVER, AFTER THE SUSPECTED RETAIL THIEF, MCKEE, KNOCKED HER DOWN, SETTING OFF THE WILD CHAIN OF EVENTS.
"I was knocked down very hard and I thought I got shot and I was screaming on top of my lungs. I'm all still shaken up from all this. (crying) and I thought I was gonna die."
According to police...Martinez does have a concealed weapons license
but that does not justify open fire in a busy parking lot.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal says, Martinez is charged with aggravated assault and shooting at an occupied vehicle.
The shoplifter, McKee says he was stealing meat to feed his family and is charged with theft.
