State officials say they're trying to catch up with a sex offender registry system they're calling...seriously backlogged.

A 2006 law requires some convicted sex offenders to update their registration twice a year and wear a GPS monitor.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that five analysts at the Georgia Bureau of

Have about 43-hundred open cases to sort through...

with as many as a hundred fifty new ones filtering in every month.

The executive director of the Sex Offender Registration Review Board, estimates that about 258 of the backlogged offender cases are probably sexually dangerous predators.

The health website Web M-D will cut about 62 Georgia jobs from its Atlanta offices.

Executives say there's a need to reduce costs after a drop in ad revenue...and that the job losses in this state...are among a national workforce reduction of 14 percent.

Most of the job cuts will take place by the end of this year.

If you're in the midst of a job search of your own...Help for the Holidays continues tomorrow with some career resources.

One of Georgia's native sons is in China on a diplomatic trip tonight.

Former U.S. President...and Georgia Governor... Jimmy Carter, met with the country's vice premiere today.

The trip is primarily aimed at encouraging economic cooperation.

Carter said today...the U.S. China relationship has evolved positively over the past few decades...and he plans to devote himself to solidifying diplomatic ties.

Another former American President is going to be a first-time grandfather.

The former president's daughter, Jenna, announced on N-B-C's "Today Show" she's due sometime in the spring.

Jenna Bush Hager, who serves as a contributor to the show, said she was "nervous and so excited" to be expecting her first child.

And the 31-year-old says she's always wanted to be a mom.

They got married in 2008 on her family's 16-hundred-acre ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has undergone a professional transformation since the days when she occupied the White House as first lady...and in her current role...

A new poll shows...a majority of people approve.

Politico and George Washington University conducted it...and among respondents... Sixty percent said they see Clinton in a positive light.

35 percent did not.

One reason for Clinton's high numbers...the pollsters say...could be because she's not running for office.

The added...her approval rating could dip if she were to become an active candidate again.

A former Florida Governor may have earned favorable points ...Or lost a few...depending on which side of the political isle you're on.

Charlie Crist governed Florida from 2006 through 2010 as a Republican, ran for U.S. Senate as an independent, and is now, a Democrat.

Last week, we reported the news after he announced it in a tweet.

Now, he's explaining why.

<

" In order to be true to myself, I have to do what's right for my heart. and what's right for me is to pursue the things I believe in, the values my mother and father and the principles my mother and father taught me. I'm the grandson of a Greek immigrant who came to this country with nothing. America gave him a chance and an opportunity. This is a place where if you work hard, if you live by the rules, if you do what's right and be true to yourself, you know, the label is not so important."

>

Some in Florida speculate... Crist may be planning to try to get his old job back...and run for Governor as a Democrat in 2014.

A poll released by CNN today...shows most America another public figure may actually be a Democrat.

That's *santa Claus*.

In a new Public Policy Polling survey, most people say they believe Santa leans blue...in spite of the red suit.

44 percent of those asked said Santa Claus was a Democrat, compared to the 28 percent who said he's a Republican.

But perhaps a more surprising number -- a majority of voters, 52-percent in fact, say they still believe in Santa Claus.

The survey was done earlier this month and involved 500 registered voters.

He's not Santa Claus...but he is in the giving spirit..

Guyton says Macon has helped his event promotions company take off the last couple years, and now he wants to pay it forward.

<I feel like I've been blessed with the support of the community, at my events and my different functions so I felt like I should do something to try to give back with some of those funds.>

Students at Tattnall Square Academy were in a giving mood today.

The school held its 25th annual Kids Yule Love program this morning.

It included performances featuring students from all grade levels..including music...and a living Nativity scene.

But as Kids Yule Love charity founder ...and Bibb County Commissioner Joe Allen explained...the real shining star...was the students' giving spirit.

<Commissioner Joe Allen, Kids Yule Love: And I always look to Tattnall to help, help us out a great deal. This is their program as much as it is anybody's that helps with Kids Yule Love or helps with any program, cause it's all about the children and the love of God and the bottomline is it's wonderful what they have done here. >

Which internet provider is fastest?

Video streaming service Netflix says its techs learned the answer -- by tracking subscribers' download speeds.

Netflix ranked Google Fiber as the speediest internet connection in the United States.

The bad news: Google Fiber is only available in just one place right now -- Kansas City, Kansas.

For the rest of us, Netflix says Verizon FiOS (fye-ohss) ranks number two.

Comcast placed a close third.

These are just averages based on Netflix tracking -- most internet providers promise much faster top speeds.
