Good evening and thanks for joining us... I'm Candace Adorka.

A Warner Robins man escaped virtually unharmed this afternoon... After a train ran into his brand new truck.
Officials say 74-year old Jerry Battle was very fortunate.
Lt. Mike Stokes with the Houston County Sheriff's Office says the railroad crossing at the intersection of Highway 247 and West Houston Road is a passive crossing.... Meaning it has no warning lights... Or crossing bars.
But that may not have stopped Jerry Battle from getting hit by an oncoming train.
Stokes says the conductor had every brake on the train engaged... But since it takes about a mile for a train to stop... it hit him at about 40 miles per hour.
Stokes says he can't remember any previous collisions at that crossing.
Stokes says Battle was taken to the hospital... But should be released by tomorrow.

We now know the Republican Presidential ticket.
Mitt Romney picked Congressman Paul Ryan to be his running mate.
Manuel Gallegus reports from New York.
(NAT - "PAUL RYAN")
Mitt Romney introduced his choice for Vice President to cheering supporters in Norfolk, Virginia.... Congressman Paul Ryan from Wisconsin.
(SOT-Mitt Romney/(R) Presidential Candidate)
"HE IS A PERSON OF GREAT STEADINESS WHO'S INTEGRITY IS UNQUESTIONED AND HIS WORD IS GOOD."
The Republican ticket immediately began a full campaign swing - making several stops in the key swing state.
(sot- Paul Ryan/(R) Vice Presidential Candidate)
"ON NOVEMBER 6TH WERE GOING TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK."
The 42 year old has spent the past 14 years in Congress calling for fiscal discipline.
Republicans are hoping the father of three can energize the GOP.
(SOT-Paul Ryan/(R) Vice Presidential Candidate)
"THE PRESIDENT HAS GIVEN US POLICIES THAT HAS PUT OUR NATION ON A PATH OF DEBT DOUBT AND DESPAIR AND DECLINE."
Last year Ryan proposed trillions in budget cuts and a revamp of medicare.
Conservatives embraced the plan, but Democrats - including President Obama criticized it.
(SOT-President Obama/ August 13th, 2011)
"IT'S A VISION THAT SAYS AMERICA CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP THE PROMISE WE'VE MADE TO CARE FOR OUR SENIORS."
The Obama campaign launched a website saying the Republican ticket would be a return to failed economic policies of the past.
(NATS-HANDOUT VIDEO: "WORKERS STAND FOR AMERICA")
Democrats echoed the message at a union rally in Philadelphia.
01:34 (Debbie Wasserman-Schultz/Chair, Democratic National Committee)

(NATS)
Ryan and Romney will spend the coming days on their campaign bus -
(SOT-PAUL RYAN)
"TOGETHER WE WILL UNITE AMERICA AND GET THIS DONE."
taking their message to battleground states.

Romney's announcement did have one hiccup-- he accidentally introduced Ryan as the next PRESIDENT not V-P.
<Join me in welcoming the President of the US, Paul Ryan! (Applause)
---BUTT TO---
Every now and then I'm known to make a mistake. I did not make a mistake with this guy, but I can tell you he's going to be the next VICE president of the US. >
It's a mistake President Obama made four years ago.
<"Let me introduce to you, the next president... the next vice president of the United States of America! Joe Biden!" >

From the national stage to right here in Central Georgia... People are voicing their opinion on the Romney-Ryan Ticket.
State Senator Cecil Station calls Paul Ryan... And inspired VP Choice
<I think he's just the right mix with Governor Romney. Governor Romney has a lot of personal experience in the business world, very successful man. He's run a state. He's been an executive. But with this we have a younger, dynamic voice who knows the congress, which the president has to work with, he knows the budget, and what has to be done to balance it. And, I think between the two of them it's a very good combination that I feel good about as we head into the fall and the general election>
We also talked to some folks on the street... To get their reaction to choice of the Wisconsin Congressman.
<I think he's an excellent choice for a running mate. I think he'll add balance to the ticket and hopefully he'll push Romney over the top.
i'm very elated he was picked. I think my first choice would've been Rubio but now that i've learned a little bit about Ryan, I'm very pleased with him. He gave a very good speech.>
We've also had over 200 of you post your positions on our Facebook page.
Jessica Bailey says: "I am very happy with it. Washington needs some Republicans with new ideas in the White House to reduce the stigmatism of the GOP party from previous decades."
But the choice didn't matter to Sherman Pitts. He's all about re-electing our 44th President...Barack Obama for 4 more years."
And Regina Register is in the middle. She says "I like the choice, but still supports Obama. She thinks If people elect Rommey, he will return to his less conservative roots, and Paul's young face may help him capture the female vote that republicans have alienated with their anti-birth control rhetoric."

We had our own kind of presidential buzz right here in Central Georgia.
Some of our Facebook fans alerted us of a possible George Bush sighting last night in Macon.
People say the saw him at the Back Burner Restaurant off Ingleside Drive.
The waiters there tell us if it wasn't him... they served someone who was a pretty good look-alike.
Chef Christian Losito said he cooked filet mignon and an apple crumble with vanilla ice cream for the man.
They couldn't confirm it really was President Bush... but it wouldn't be the first time a celebrity ate at the Back Burner.
Olivia Newton John and Dolly Parton have both stopped by.

As we speak... A team of ghost hunters from the Lost Souls Paranormal Team is making its way through the old jail in Washington County.
They're looking for a ghost named Essie...
Austin Lewis is with them right now and joins us by phone.
She was 16 when she died. She died 8 days after her dress caught on fire. She got an infection. The sheriff of the family lived there... And she died in what's now called the old jail.
Her ghost is still there. Died in 1905.
Lost Souls Paranormal team have teams in WaCo. One is at the sanatarium and the other is at the old jail.

A couple minutes later you can see the rover reach the surface of Mars.
NASA say the entire thing went off as planned.
