PRESIDENT OBAMA'S ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE CHANGES IN HIS IMMIGRATION POLICY HAS SPARKED SOME SWIFT AND OCCASIONALLY HARSH REACTIONS.
HE ANNOUNCED HIS ADMINISTRATION WOULD STOP DEPORTING YOUNG ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WHO'VE ENTERED THE COUNTRY AS CHILDREN, AND MEET CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS.
ATHENA JONES TAKES A LOOK AT HOW MEMBERS OF CONGRESS ARE RESPONDING TO THE DECISION.
(nats)
SENATE MINORITY LEADER MITCH MCCONNELL REFUSED TO ANSWER SHOUTED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION'S NEW IMMIGRATION POLICY ...
(nats)
BUT THE REACTION FROM OTHER CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS WAS STRONG.
TEXAS CONGRESSMAN LAMAR SMITH -- CHAIRMAN OF THE HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE -- CALLS THE MOVE AN "AMNESTY" THAT WOULD ENCOURAGE FRAUD AND ILLEGAL ACTIVITY
I think the American people are getting tired of this president picking and choosing what laws to enforce. That's not the democratic way. maybe you can do that in a dictatorship, maybe you can do that in another country, but this is a president who is sworn to uphold the constitution of the United States.
SOME MEMBERS TOOK TO TWITTER -- SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM FROM SOUTH CAROLINA, TWEETING... "PRESIDENT OBAMA AVOIDS THE HARD WORK OF FIXING AN IMMIGRATION SYSTEM WHICH IS BROKEN AND FRACTURED ALONG NUMEROUS FRONTS."
REPUBLICANS SAY THE PRESIDENT IS BYPASSING CONGRESS, WHICH HAS REPEATEDLY FAILED TO PASS DREAM ACT LEGISLATION THAT WOULD GIVE YOUNG UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS -- BROUGHT TO AMERICA ILLEGALLY BY THEIR PARENTS -- A PATH TO CITIZENSHIP IF THEY MEET CERTAIN CRITERIA.
MEANWHILE DEMOCRATS -- LIKE DREAM ACT CO-SPONSOR SENATOR DICK DURBIN -- ARE APPLAUDING THE ADMINISTRATION'S MOVE.
I believe that this is an important step forward..
THE POLICY CHANGE WILL BEGIN GRANTING YOUNG IMMIGRANTS WORK PERMITS... AND COULD AFFECT UP TO 800-THOUSAND PEOPLE.

GEORGIA IS ONE OF THE WORST STATES IN THE COUNTRY FOR STAFFING NURSES IN SCHOOLS... BUT STATE EDUCATION LEADERS HOPE A NEW LAW WILL HELP CHANGE THAT.
FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER... THE STATE WILL FUND NURSES BASED ON STUDENT ENROLLMENT.
THE LAW SETS ASIDE MONEY FOR ONE NURSE PER 750 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS OR 15-HUNDRED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.
RIGHT NOW... THE RATIO SITS AT ONE NURSE PER 23-HUNDRED STUDENTS.
THAT HAS GEORGIA RANKED FORTY-SIXTH AMONG ALL STATES AND WASHINGTON D-C.
THE LAW ALSO REQUIRES THAT ALL THE MONEY ALLOCATED FOR SCHOOL NURSES... CAN'T BE SPENT ON ANYTHING ELSE.
IT TAKES EFFECT JULY FIRST.

SAUDI ARABIA'S STATE-RUN T-V IS REPORTING THAT THE COUNTRY'S CROWN PRINCE HAS DIED IN GENEVA.
NAYEF BIN ABDULAZIZ WAS NAMED CROWN PRINCE IN OCTOBER.
HIS BODY WILL ARRIVE IN SAUDI ARABIA TOMORROW FOR BURIAL.
THE KING IS EXPECTED TO PUT TOGETHER A COMMITTEE THAT WILL SELECT A SUCCESSOR AFTER THE COUNTRY'S PERIOD OF MOURNING.
NIC ROBERTSON REPORTS THE PRINCE'S DEATH IS SHROUDED IN SECRECY.
(CNN) -- Saudi Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, a hard-ine conservative who is credited with pushing back al Qaeda, has died, Saudi state TV said on Saturday.
Nayef, who had been named crown prince in October by his brother the king, was heir to the Saudi throne. State TV is broadcasting Quran readings as an expression of mourning for the prince, who died in Geneva, Switzerland.
"It is a shock. We are knew his health was frail but his death is a shock," Saudi Foreign Ministry spokesman Osama Nogali told CNN. "We still don't know the reason behind his death."
The Saudi Press Agency published a statement from the Royal Court, saying it "condoles the Saudi people on the deceased prince pray to God to bless his soul and to reward him for his services to his religion and homeland."
Nayef's body will arrive in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia Sunday and will be buried after afternoon prayer in Mecca, Nogali said.
After the funeral, a period of mourning -- most likely for three days -- will be announced, a Saudi official told CNN. The official asked not to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media.
It is expected that authorities selected by the king to choose a successor will meet as soon as the mourning period is over, the official said. A new crown prince could be named within the next three to four days, the source said.
Nayef served as Saudi interior minister since 1975, having overseen the kingdom's counterterrorism efforts.
He also served as deputy premier.
A classified U.S. Embassy cable leaked by the website WikiLeaks described Nayef as a hard-line conservative who was lukewarm to King Abdullah's reform initiatives.
Nayef led the crackdown against hard-line Islamists who took control of Mecca in 1979, and also oversaw the smashing of Saudi-based al Qaeda cells in the mid-2000s.
In recent years, his son, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, has led the kingdom's fight against al Qaeda as the elder Nayef seemed to have taken more of backseat.
On Saturday, the Bahrain state-run news agency announced three days of mourning in that country and ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff there and at its embassies abroad. Kuwait also announced a three-day mourning period.

THEY SAY IT COULD TAKE TWO TO FOUR WEEKS TO FULLY CONTAIN THE BLAZE.

A LARGE COMMUNITY OF FOLKS OUT IN OREGON LIVE IN HOUSES ON THE WATER.
BUT UNLIKE HOUSEBOATS... THESE DON'T MOVE.

MANY PEOPLE DREAM OF LIVING NEAR THE WATER BUT THESE FOLKS ARE TAKING IT TO THE EXTREME.... BY LIVING ON TOP OF IT.
