HELLO EVERYONE AND THANKS FOR JOINING US....I'M LORRA LYNCH JONES
THIS IS EYEWITNESS NEWS AT SIX...

RAIN SOAKED CENTRAL GEORGIA TODAY... BUT ONLY WASHED OUT PORTIONS OF FILMING FOR "42".
EXTRAS SAY DIRECTORS CANCELED A FEW OUTDOOR SCENES TODAY... DELAYING THEM UNTIL THE WATER WORKS STOP.
nats full- 2 seconds of rain
THIS WAS THE DAMP SCENE AT CENTRAL CITY PARK TODAY.
EXTRAS ARRIVED AROUND 7 A-M... AND SAY THEY DID A LOT OF HURRYING-UP AND WAITING.
THE FILM'S PUBLICIST SAID THEY DID SHOOT AN INDOOR SCENE IN THE LUTHER WILLIAM'S LOCKER ROOM.
CROWD SCENES INSIDE THE STADIUM ARE EXPECTED TO BE SHOT TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY.
ONE EXTRA WHO MANY OF YOU WILL RECOGNIZE... OUR FORMER MORNING ANCHOR TYLER PEARSON... SAID HE MADE INTO THE BACKGROUND OF A SCENE WITH HARRISON FORD... AS A BASEBALL PLAYER.
THAT WAS ON FRIDAY.
TODAY HE WAS DRESSED AND READY FOR ACTION... BUT DIRECTORS SENT HIM HOME EARLY BECAUSE OF THE RAIN.
PEARSON SAID THAT'S HOW IT GOES IN THE BUSINESS OF MAKING MOVIES.
Tyler Pearson, Atlanta: "Its a lot of hurry up to wait. You do a lot of everyhing, everybody gets in place, you do a lot of everything, then you wait a while. You wait on them to reset the cameras. Then you wait on them to reset the shots and get everybody else back in place, before you do it again. The actors are doing their thing as well. Youve to to do each shot from five different angles. It's just amazing how much goes into this. In TV news, as a we all know, its pretty much a run and gun thing. This is so methodical, every little piece."
THIS IS PEARSON'S FIRST TIME AS AN EXTRA.
HE SAID WAS ALWAYS A DREAM TO BE IN A BASEBALLL MOVIE.
HE PLAYED THE SPORT HIMSELF THROUGH COLLEGE.

TYLER PEARSON ISN'T THE ONLY FACE YOU MIGHT SEE ON BOTH 13WMAZ AND THE BIG SCREEN.
METEOROLOGIST MIKE FULLER JOINS ME NOW TO TALK ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCE.

1. SO YOU GOT THE CALL TO BE AN EXTRA... WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION?

2. WHAT WAS IT LIKE WHEN YOU GOT TO THE SET?

3. YOU LOOK A LITTLE DIFFERENT.. I SEE YOUR HAIR AND MUSTACHE ARE A LITTLE SHORTER.

3 1/2. DID YOU FILM ANYTHING TODAY?

4. TALK ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN WARDROBE. WHAT WILL YOU BE WEARING?

5. YOU MENTIONED TO ME OFF CAMERA THAT A LOT OF THE STAFF FOR THE MOVIE ARE FROM ATLANTA..

6. WHAT WAS THE VIBE LIKE ON SET?

OTHER FILM CREWS ARE BUSY TODAY... DESPITE THE RAIN.
FOR INSTANCE... OUR SUZANNE LAWLER HAS BEEN CAMPED OUT ON HIGH STREET IN THE WET WEATHER ALL DAY... SHE'S JOINING US WITH AN UPDATE.
SUZANNE?

FILMING FOR "42" ALSO BROUGHT A SET CREW TO A HISTORIC DOWNTOWN MACON JEWELRY SHOP TODAY.
DAVID EARL HAS A STORY ABOUT THE TIES BETWEEN REALITY AND THE MOVIES.
<<
FOR RICHARD RAYSON IT'S JUST A RAINY DAY OF BUSINESS.
BUT THIS MONDAY...
"...was kinda ironic"
THAT'S BECAUSE HIS REAL FIRST NAME...
"...is Harrison. And Harrison Ford will possibly be here in the store later this week."
SET CREWS FOR '42' WERE BUSY BUILDING COVERINGS MONDAY TO DRESS UP THE OUTSIDE OF ANDERSEN'S JEWELERS.
THE RAIN DIDN'T KEEP THEM AWAY.
"That's another thing that's ironic."
"Rayson said the producers of the movie 42 chose his jewelry shop right here on Second Street for that green awning ... so they could run some Hollywood rain down it. Today, Mother Nature decided to test it for herself, but we have the film crew testing it for the scene."
THERE THEY ARE ON FRIDAY WORKING WITH A RAIN SIMULATOR IN FRONT OF THE STORE.
AND WHILE CUSTOMERS CAN STILL COME IN THIS WEEK -- RAYSON'S COUNTING THE TIME ...
... UNTIL HE CAN CLOSE UP SHOP ... AND MAYBE WELCOME IN HARRISON.
"I've followed him since Star Wars. Blade Runner. Hahaha."
IN MACON, DAVID EARL, 13WMAZ EYEWITNESS NEWS.

>> ANDERSEN'S JEWELERS WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL CREWS SHOW UP TO SHOOT THE STORE'S SCENE.
RAYSON SAYS THAT SHOULD BE LATER THIS WEEK.

THE KU KLUX KLAN SAYS IT WANTS TO JOIN THE STATE'S "ADOPT A HIGHWAY" LITTER REMOVAL PROGRAM.
THE INTERNATIONAL KEYSTONE KNIGHTS OF THE K-K-K APPLIED TO CLEAN UP A STRETCH OF ROUTE 515 IN THE APPLALACHIAN MOUNTAINS.
IN EXCHANGE FOR KEEPING THE ROAD CLEAN... THE GROUP WOULD GET A ROAD SIGN PROMOTING ITS INVOLVEMENT IN THE PROGRAM.
IF THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION DENIES THE REQUEST... IT COULD FACE A LEGAL BATTLE.
THE STATE COULD ALSO AVOID THE DECISION BY ENDING THE PROGRAM.

THIS STORY HAS SPARKED QUITE A CONVERSATION ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE.
WE ASKED OUR FANS IF THEY THOUGHT THE KU KLUX KLAN SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO ADOPT A HIGHWAY.
ONE PERSON WROTE... "YES. THIS IS AMERICA, WHERE YOU'RE ALLOWED TO BE WRONG. FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS A POWERFUL RIGHT, AND ONE THAT DOESN'T ONLY EXTEND TO THE POLITE, THE CORRECT, OR THE SANE."
SOMEONE ELSE REPLIED... "NO THEY SHOULDN'T, WE SHOULD BE ABOUT LOVING ONE ANOTHER AND ALL.
ANY GROUP HATING ANYONE SHOULD NOT BE IN THE PUBLIC'S EYE."
AND A THIRD PERSON COMMENTED... "IF THEY WANT TO DO SOMETHING GOOD FOR ONCE, LET THEM. WE DON'T HAVE TO LIKE THEIR OPINIONS TO LET THEM DO SOMETHING NICE FOR THE COMMUNITY."
WE WANT YOU TO JOIN THE CONVERSATION.

AFTER WEEKS OF DISCUSSION... MACON CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS MADE A MOVE ON A PLAN TO CURB YOUTH VIOLENCE.
TODAY THE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE DECIDED TO MAKE THE MAYOR'S OFFICE THE LEAD AGENCY OF THE PROGRAM..
COUNCIL MEMBERS ALSO VOTED TO HIRE A CIVILIAN COORDINATOR FOR THE PROGRAM BUT THAT STILL HAS TO GO BEFORE THE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE.
ONLY ONE COUNCIL MEMBER VOTED AGAINST THE PLAN...HENRY GIBSON SAYS THE POLICE DEPARTMENT SHOULD HANDLE IT..NOT THE MAYOR'S OFFICE.

SATURDAY THE CITY OF PERRY UNVIELED A NEW PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING FACILITY FOR CENTRAL GEORGIA.

THIS FIRING RANGE IS JUST THE START OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING FACILITY IN PERRY.

James Buck, Lieutenant: "Chief Potter set us up a state of the art system to use out here."

THE CENTER THAT SITS ON ALMOST 40 ACRES OFF OF TOOMER ROAD IS NAMED AFTER CHIEF GEORGE POTTER.
.
POTTER SAYS THE PROJECT WAS JUST AN IDEA FOUR YEARS AGO.
Chief George Potter: "What you see out there right now is just the beginning of what's going to be a large training area for both police and fire men."

THE CITY OF PERRY ALREADY OWNED THE LAND.
THE MONEY USED FOR BUILDING MATERIALS IS FUNDED BY CONFISCATED DRUG MONEY... AND INMATES BUILT THE FACILITY
WHICH HAS PISTOL... RIFLE... AND SHOT GUN RANGES CONTROLLED BY A SIMULATOR SYSTEM.
nats "each symbol is a target"

nats "it turns the targets and then faces them back"

IT ALSO HAS A RUNNING TRACK FOR CONDITIONING... INSIDE THE TRACK WILL BE AN OBSTACLE COURSE AND REPELLING TOWER.
nats
FIREFIGHTERS CAN ALSO GET THE CHANCE TO IMPROVE RESCUE TECHNIQUES IN A CLOSE TO TWENTY FOOT DITCH.

James Buck, Lieutenant: "This is one of the most advanced ranges in middle georgia, officers from not only the Perry police department but the Houston County Sheriff's Department the Georgia Bureau of Investigations will all be training out here in order to improve their skills."

Chief George Potter: "Makes them much more confident on the street should we have a scenario involving an armed gunman to have that kind of training under their belt."

THE FACILITY IS LOCKED nats TO THE PUBLIC... BUT OPEN... FOR TRAINING PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS IN CENTRAL GEORGIA.
