HELLO EVERYONE AND THANKS FOR JOINING US.... I'M LEAH JOHNSON..
THIS IS EYEWITNESS NEWS AT SIX...

DISAGREEMENT OVER ROMAIN DALLEMAND AND HIS MACON MIRACLE PLAN TURNED INTO A FINGER-WAVING.. TABLE-POUNDING....SHOUTING EXCHANGE BETWEEN A BIBB COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER... AND A CRITIC.
IT HAPPENED JUST AFTER NOON TODAY... MINUTES AFTER QUALIFYING ENDED FOR BIBB COUNTY CANDIDATES.
TOM HUDSON . A DEMOCRAT WHO HOLDS THE DISTRICT FIVE SEAT.. QUALIFIED WEDNESDAY.. BUT HE RETURNED TO SEE IF HE DREW AN OPPONENT.
THIS MORNING.... ANGEL DAVIS HOPPER QUALIFIED TO RUN AGAINST HIM... SAYING THERE'S NO ACCOUNTABILITY ON THE CURRENT SCHOOL BOARD.
Angel Hopper, Candidate: There are a lot of injustices going on. Uh, we have secret meetings. Uh, fiscal accountability, financial accountability.
HUDSON OVERHEARD HER AND SHARPLY DISAGREED.
Tom Hudson, Board Member: In terms of fiscal accountability, the Bibb County Board of Education ever since I've been on the board we've had one of the highest reviews in terms of our audits.
HOPPER WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A FRIEND... DARREN LATCH.
HE ORGANIZED A GROUP CALLED SUPPORT BIBB SCHOOLS... AND RUNS A WEBSITE THAT CRITICIZES DALLEMAND AND THE SCHOOL BOARD.
WHILE ELECTION OFFICIALS SHUT DOWN QUALIFYING FOR THE DAY.... HUDSON AND LATCH WERE JUST GETTING STARTED.
HERE'S PART OF THEIR EXCHANGE.
HUDSON AND HOPPER MEET IN THE JULY 31ST DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY.. THERE'S NO REPUBLICAN IN THE RACE.

RIGHT NOW... SENIORS AT HOWARD HIGH SCHOOL ARE TAKING A WALK ACROSS THE STAGE FOR GRADUATION.
IN 20-11... ABOUT 51 PERCENT OF BIBB COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS GRADUATED...BUT AT SOUTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL...THAT NUMBER WAS 38 PERCENT.
ORGANIZERS OF THE PROMISE NEIGHBORHOOD PROGRAM THINK THEY CAN TURN THAT AROUND.
IT'S A PROJECT BASED ON THE HARLEM CHILDREN'S ZONE... THAT HOPES TO BRING MORE DAYCARE OR UNEMPLOYMENT SERVICES FOR PARENTS THAT WOULD ENGAGE FAMILIES,.
CLIFFARD WHITBY... VICE CHAIR OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECT COMMITTEE... SAYS ONE REASON THE RATE AT SOUTHWEST IS LOW IS BECAUSE THE COMMUNITY DOESN'T GET INVOLVED.
Cliffard Whitby, Vice Chair: 38 percent is atrocious and we ought to all look at this with a sobering reminder that it's time that you reengage in our public school system
THE PROMISE NEIGHBORHOOD COMMITTEE IS STILL PLANNING ITS PROJECT.

HOUSTON COUNTY SENIORS ARE READY TO TAKE THEIR BIG WALK ACROSS THE STAGE.... TONIGHT AND TOMORROW.
VETERANS HIGH HELD PRACTICE TODAY FOR THEIR FIRST GRADUATING CLASS.
HOUSTON COUNTY WILL HAVE SIX GRADUATIONS THIS WEEK.
TWO ARE TONIGHT.
ANTHONY LUNCEFORD OF HOUSTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT SAYS PEOPLE WHO WANT TO ATTEND SHOULD PLAN AHEAD.
IF NOT... YOU COULD END UP SITTING IN AN OVERFLOW AREA.
Anthony Lunceford, Executive Director for Secondary Education: "The biggest problem we have is people that try to think they're gonna get here thirty minutes before and be able to find a seat and a parking place. In reality... the traffic that leads into this is quite cumbersome. So... arriving an hour early is certainly a plan you need to have in place because once you get here you're in. But 15 minutes before... we're gonna close the doors and not let anybody in.
CAREER ACADEMY'S GRADUATION BEGAN AT SIX... AND HOUSTON COUNTY HIGH STARTS AT EIGHT TONIGHT.

YOU MIGHT HAVE NOTICED GAS PRICES TAKING A DIP... HEADED INTO A HOLIDAY WEEKEND...
THAT'S GREAT NEWS FOR PEOPLE PLANNING ROAD TRIPS.
A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO... IT WASN'T THE SAME STORY.
WE INTRODUCED YOU TO A PASTOR IN DUBLIN... WHO STARTED PRAYING FOR HIGH GAS PRICES TO DROP.

AT 75 DOLLARS.

ONE GROUP SAYS... THAT'S THANKS TO 13 MONTHS OF PRAYER.

Nats, Mabry: "Our backs are up against the wall"

THE MOVEMENT STARTED WHEN DUBLIN PASTOR... MARSHALL MABRY... AND ABOUT 60 OTHERS... GATHERED AT A GAS STATION LAST YEAR... TO BEGIN PRAYING.
THE PRAYER CHAIN SPREAD ACROSS THE COUNTY... AND FRIDAY... PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON D-C CELEBRATED LOWER PRICES... THEY SAY... THAT CAME FROM ABOVE.

Marshall Mabry: "Those of us who are not elected officials, we weren't able to make some things happen. And I really believe God touched the hearts of certain people who could make things happen. And so I do believe that gas prices are coming down because of prayer."

Amy Aubert: "Mabry says through prayer he hopes gas will drop to 2 bucks a gallon. When they started praying last April, gas was at 3.67 a gallon, this past April, it jumped to 3.75. But today, the average in Macon... 3.27."

Will Younger, Savannah: "God works in mysterious ways."

Donnie Chastain: "Hey, everybody needs to pray if they'll keep coming down."

BUT NOT EVERYONE THINKS THE PRICES... ARE AN ANSWERED PRAYER.

Renee Lindsay, Florida, "I don't believe that. I'm sorry, but that's not me. I really believe it's because the economy is getting better."

WHETHER THE ECONOMY... OR A LITTLE HELP FROM UPSTAIRS... DOLLAR SIGNS CONTINUE TO DROP... FOR DRIVERS.
