BIBB SCHOOL LEADERS ARE MEETING WITH COMMUNITY GROUP REPRESENTATIVES AND CHURCH LEADERS.
THE TOPIC OF CONVERSATION... IMPROVING SCHOOLS.
THEY HELD THE FIRST MEETING THIS MORNING.
A FEW DOZEN COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAME TO GIVE THEIR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE PROBLEMS SCHOOLS FACE.
AS AUSTIN LEWIS SHOWS YOU... THEY ALSO TALKED ABOUT HOW TO WORK WITH SCHOOL LEADERS.
<<
Dallemand: Our number one priority is what we're currently working on which is discipline, safety security number one priority.
THAT'S ONE OF THE ANSWERS COMMUNITY LEADERS GOT FROM BIBB COUNTY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT ROMAIN DALLEMAND.
HE OUTLINED SOME OF THE PROBLEMS FACING BIBB SCHOOLS FRIDAY MORNING TO PEOPLE FROM MACON STATE,...CENTRAL GEORGIA  TECH....BOYS AND GIRLS  CLUB AND OTHER GROUPS.
Romain Dallemand, Bibb County Schools: The school system does not exist in a vacuum, our challenge, our issues the concerns that we have been working on are so deep and there so many that it's going to take the entire community to come together working collaboratively in order to improve our school systems
GROUP MEMBERS TALKED ABOUT COLLABORATION... AND HOW IT COULD WORK.
Community member: Identify them, segment them and then have the people who have the expertise individually address them, collaborating as a group is going to be very difficult to have meaningful results.
SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS TOOK NOTES...ON OTHER ISSUES RAISED....LIKE TEEN HOMELESSNESS...PARENT INVOLVEMENT AND TEEN PREGNANCY.
Romain Dallemand, Bibb County Schools:  we're going to prioritize the ideas that were collected and then bring the group back together so we can have a follow up conversation.
VALERIE HICKS WITH NORTH CENTRAL HEALTH DISTRICT SAYS IT'S A GOOD FIRST STEP...EVEN FOR CRITICS OF DALLEMAND'S MACON MIRACLE.
Valerie hicks, North Central Health District: as one of the collaborating members said she did not like everything about the Macon Miracle plan I think we all can find some issues with it but my philosophy is let's find some common ground. Let's find some common ground that we can agree on and move forward. I was very pleased to hear the superintendent said that discipline is the priority, discpline and safety I think that is common ground for all of us.
DALLEMAND SAYS HE HOPES TO HAVE MORE DISCUSSIONS LIKE THIS ON A REGULAR BASIS.

>> SUPERINTENDENT DALLEMAND WILL HOLD ANOTHER FORUM FOR CHURCH LEADERS TOMORROW MORNING.

ALL WEEK... WE'VE SHARED TIPS ON HOW TO KEEP YOURSELF OUT OF FINANCIAL TROUBLE... BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THAT ADVICE COMES A LITTLE TOO LATE?
        SHERRI GOSS HAS THE ANSWER.

How to save yourself

The first thing you need to do is sit down, and make two lists.  One list is of the expenses you pay for each month, and the other list is of the creditors you owe.  At the end of a month, how much extra money do you have available?   Are there spending habits you can change to increase how much extra you have each month?  Take that extra money and start paying down your smallest debt first.  When that debt is repaid, start on the next biggest debt.

Keep making payments to all of your creditors, on time, as you are doing this.  Every month, your creditors report your activity to the credit bureaus, and a late payment can stay on your credit file for years, hurting your credit.

If you are in a situation where you can't make all of your monthly payments, you have three options:  decrease spending, increase income (take on a part-time job), or go seek help from Consumer Credit Counseling Service.  They have offices in Macon and Warner Robins, and can review your debts and see if they can help you with a repayment plan.  How this works, is they may be able to reduce the interest rates on your debt, and maybe even the monthly payment.  They do this through a debt management plan.  You can contact them through their website, www.cccsmacon.org <http://www.cccsmacon.org>.
