Hartley: "No. No."

HARTLEY SAYS THE BOARD IS WORKING TO KEEP A LAWSUIT OUT OF THE ISSUE.

Hartley: "Everybody's going to suffer if this thing goes to court and it goes downhill from here and we do not want that to happen."

HE CALLS THE SOLUTION... SIMPLE.

Hartley: "Allow us to hire our own actuary, allow us to hire our own auditor, let the attorney work this out with the administration or however he has to work it out, and don't interfere with the board."

HARTLEY AGREED WITH MAYOR REICHERT'S COMMENTS... THAT THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE BOARD... IS LIKE A MARRIAGE... CALLING IT... A SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP.

HARTLEY SAYS HE'S WILLING TO SIT DOWN WITH THE MAYOR... AND HOPES THE GROUPS CAN PUT THE ISSUES BEHIND THEM... SOON.

FOR FOLKS 18 TO 29 YEARS OLD... THE SO-CALLED MILLENNIAL GENERATION... NAVIGATING THROUGH THE FINANCIAL LANDSCAPE CAN BE TOUGH.
THE ROAD CAN START WHEN THEY HEAD OFF TO COLLEGE.
THE AVERAGE COLLEGE GRADUATE FACES 25-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN STUDENT LOAN DEBT... AND THAT CAN TAKE A WHILE TO PAY OFF.
SHERRI GOSS HAS SOME ADVICE ON MAKING SURE YOU START OUT ON THE RIGHT TRACK.

Student loans can make it very easy to get deep in debt. The average college graduate finishes school owing $25,000 in student loan debt, and can find this a really tough thing to pay off. The other problem is that loan payments are so low, you can pay on them for years.

There are private student loans, and government student loans. Be careful if you're shopping for private student loans with different lenders, as each time you apply, the fact that you've applied will go on your credit report, and can negatively impact your credit. Federally backed loans do not require a credit check, and generally have better terms.

If you have taken student loans out, and are still in school, but your finances are better, consider making payments while you're still in school. Some loans start to accrue interest when the loan is made, not when it comes due.

If you have a loan and are just now going to start paying it off, use an online calculator to see how long it will take to pay it off if you only make minimum payments. You can use the online calculator at www.finaid.org <http://www.finaid.org>, and on this site you can also research loans and consolidation options.
