WE THINK OF BULLYING AS A CHILDHOOD PROBLEM... EVEN SOMETIMES.... A RITE OF PASSAGE FOR KIDS.
BUT ONE INSTITUTE IS SPREADING THE MESSAGE THAT WORKPLACE BULLYING IS ANYTHING BUT CHILDS' PLAY.
ON EYEWITNESS NEWS MORNIN', ACTIVIST DR. GARY NAMIE EXPLAINS HIS PERSONAL PASISON FOR THE GROUP HE AND HIS FAMILY FOUNDED.
We've been around fifteen years. We're celebrating our fifteenth anniversary in June. It's interesting, you know. We didn't go looking for this kind of misery. We deal only with a traumatized group of people who are very, very hurt. It's like dealing with domestic violence victims all the time.
TOMORROW IN OUR 6:30 HALF HOUR OF EYEWITNESS NEWS MORNIN', DR. NAMIE EXPLAINS HOW THE CONSEQUENCES OF BULLYING AFFECTED HIS FAMILY.
WE'LL ALSO HEAR FROM A LOCAL THERAPIST ON HOW PEOPLE IN THE WORK PLACE CAN EFFECTIVELY DEAL WITH GROWN-UP BULLIES.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS JOINING FORCES WITH THE NATION'S BIGGEST WIRELESS CARRIERS TO WARN YOU ABOUT DANGEROUS WEATHER AND OTHER EMERGENCIES.
THE WIRELESS EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM WILL BE AVAILABLE TO WIRELESS CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE W-E-A ENABLED PHONES.
IT'S FREE AND CUSTOMERS WON'T HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR THE SERVICE.
THE SERVICE USES G-P-S TO FIND YOUR LOCATION.... SO THE TEXTS WILL WARN YOU ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING WHERE YOU ARE... NOT WHERE YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER IS BASED.
THEY'LL COVER LIFE-THREATENING SEVERE WEATHER... LIKE TORNADOES.. HURRICANES.. FLASH FLOODS AND BLIZZARDS.
ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE... THE TEXTS WILL BE BRIEF AND REFER PEOPLE TO OTHER SOURCES OF INFORMATION... TELEVISION.. RADIO.. AND THE INTERNET.
THE PROGRAM ALSO ISSUES AMBER ALERTS FOR MISSING CHILDREN... AND PRESIDENTIAL ALERTS FOR NATIONAL EMERGENCIES.
IF YOU'RE A WIRELESS CUSTOMERS...YOU CAN OPT OUT OF THE AMBER ALERTS AND THE WEATHER ALERTS... BUT NOT THE PRESIDENTIAL ALERTS.
THE ALERTS WILL USE A TECHNOLOGY THAT'S NOT AFFECTED BY WIRELESS NETWORK DELAYS.
ACCORDING TO THE F-C-C...THE ALERTS WILL BE SENT OUT AS GROUP MESSAGES...AND WILL NOT USE A SUBSCRIBER'S INDIVIDUAL PHONE NUMBER.
TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE ALERT SYSTEM AND HOW IT AFFECTS YOU... CHECK WITH YOUR WIRELESS CARRIER.

THE NATIONAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FOR PEOPLE 18 TO 29 SITS MORE THAN 4 PERCENT ABOVE THE NATIONAL RATE AND THEIR DEBTS KEEP PILING UP.
THAT'S BECAUSE THE "MILLENIAL" GENERATION... THE TWENTY-SOMETHINGS... HAVE TROUBLE WITH WHAT'S CALLED FINANCIAL LITERACY.
SHERRI GOSS IS HERE WITH SOME TIPS ON HOW THE MILLENIAL GENERATION CAN KEEP THEIR FINANCIAL SITUATION IN CHECK THROUGH AND AFTER COLLEGE.
SHERRI... LET'S START WITH CREDIT CARDS. WHAT CAN TWENTY-SOMETHINGS DO TO KEEP CONTROL OF THAT DEBT?

You know how lots of stores offer you discounts if you apply for a credit card when you're checking out? You need to realize that this is not for your benefit-it is for theirs. They hope that you will charge items, and not be able to pay off the balance in full, so they can charge you interest. Credit cards are for convenience, and they can be expensive. The average American owes about $8,000 on credit card debt alone-so they are paying interest every month for purchases they made in the past. You have to be careful about what you take on.

I do encourage people who are just starting out to have one credit card with a low credit limit, say $500. Using the card once or twice a month, and paying the balance off each month, will help you establish a credit history so you can make bigger purchases in the future.

Credit card interest rates can range from 0% to 21% or more, and fees can range from $0 to hundreds of dollars a year, so be careful. If you want to shop for the best rate, visit the website: www.cardtrak.com <http://www.cardtrak.com>
