TONIGHT'S TOP STORY... KIT COLBURN IS BACK HOME AFTER DISAPPEARING FOR TWO DAYS. HIS FATHER KEN COLBURN TALKED WITH OUR AUSTIN LEWIS ... BUT DIDN'T WANT TO BE RECORDED.
HE THANKED EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY FOR THEIR EFFORTS.
COLBURN ALSO SAYS KIT IS SAD THAT HE CAUSED EVERYONE TO LOOK FOR HIM... AND WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING LIKE THIS AGAIN.
LET'S NOW GO TO LORRA LYNCH JONES IN WARNER ROBINS WHO HAS THE LATEST ON THE SUCCESSFUL SEARCH FOR KIT COLBURN---
A lot of my raction to that was based on the comments that he had made. He had chosen to do a media interview with one of the media outlets and he had made the comment that he just wasn't worried about it. And you know from a law enforcement perspective, you know it's concerning to me that the parent is not immediately worried that there could be a problem with their child, whether that child is 2 or whether that child is 25, they want to be reunited and know that child is fine. And speaking from the father side of it I can't imagine, I can't fathom, I can't begin to empathize that I have a child that I couldn't put my hands on that I know is mine that is missing. So from the aspect of being a father I can't imagine I'm not the one out there beating every door down so my reaction to that is both from a law enforcement side and being a father side.
53) so anytime you've got a reaction I don't deem as personally being a normal reaction then those are always just indicators to me of things I want to check out...know what's there and know why (1:03) you know what may be of interest to you after that information goes to the media and he understands that I'm concerned..I actually went and sat down with the father and spoke to him personally. (((what was his response..as far as his demeanor)) (1:19) you know his demeanor to me was very open...he was very understanding..he spoke to me about the situation. I wanted to get detail from him one on one. I wanted to have a personal knowledge from him why he made the comments that he had. you know it's his son, he know's him better than I do, he felt comfortable with the things that he knew..the things that he understood and is comfortable with the area that he was gonna hide and he was gonna be okay but even as the things progressed you could see the change in the father that he's thinking now to himself that he's not just hiding.(1:49

Dan McCown: "and we were coming down the wall over here and spraying behind the hedges and as we sprayed behind the hedges he popped up."

HE SAYS HE THOUGHT IT WAS ANIMAL IN THE BUSHES... UNTIL HE SAW KIT STAND UP.

"he was real timid he was shaking so I kinda put my hands around his shoulder and I said lets go in the house get you something to drink are you thirsty are you hungry and so we took him into the house and sit him down and he looked me square in the eye and he said my dad's gonna beat me."

TUESDAY NIGHT WARNER ROBINS POLICE SAID THEY WANTED COLBURN TO KNOW HE WASN'T IN TROUBLE... AND MCDANIEL SAYS VOLUNTEERS CALLED OUT FOR HIM.

Joyce McDaniel:"All of the people that were looking for him were yelling out Kit, Kit you're not in any trouble."

SHE SAYS HER GRAND DAUGHTER GOES TO COLBURN'S SCHOOL AND SAYS SHE'S NOT SURPRISED HE WAS ABLE TO WALK OUT OF THE SCHOOL BECAUSE THE FIFTH GRADE BUILDING ISN'T CONNECTED TO THE MAIN BUILDING.

Joyce McDaniel:"If he came out the door all he had to do was turn right and walk a short distance and he'd be gone."
