GOOD EVENING AND THANKS FOR JOINING US..
I'M LEAH JOHNSON.
FRANK MALLOY HAS THE NIGHT OFF.

A CENTRAL GEORGIA WOMAN WHO SHOT A MAN WHO TRIED TO ROB HER SAYS... HAVING A GUN KEPT HER ALIVE.
56-YEAR-OLD LUISA CAMPBELL SAYS TWO MEN AMBUSHED HER ON ENGLISH AVENUE IN THE VINEVILLE AREA EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.
SHE SAYS SHE RECOGNIZED THEM AS CUSTOMERS IN ONE OF HER CONVENIENCE STORES.
CAMPBELL SAYS IT STARTED WHILE SHE WAS SITTING IN HER CAR... LOOKING FOR HER CELL PHONE.
"Then I'm still looking for my cell because I just made sure my grandbaby was okay. So I'm looking through my pocketbook again and look for my cell and that's when I hear said, you don't mind if I exactly, I say what he said, like mother(bleep)? Okay. So he said open (bleep) door, or give me the (bleep) money and all this. I look back where it come from, the hollering, look through the passenger side, and I saw the gun pointed on me."
AT THE TIME... CAMPBELL SAYS... SHE DIDN'T HAVE ANY MONEY ON HER... AND SHE DIDN'T YET SEE THE SECOND ROBBER.
"Then I said, 'I don't got no money.' Then, 'you don't open the window or door, I'll shoot you.' I answer him, I said, 'you're going to kill me anyway, no matter what, make no witness. So he shoots the window, the bullet went through the other window. I made sure he missed me, so I backed up. He did miss me. When I went back up, I saw one more guy in the front. I said, 'oh, God, I'm going to die. But they have a bad news for them, I'm always carrying a gun. 24 hours, 7 days a week. But he didn't see the gun. When he shoot the first shoot, that's when I started shooting. I said I'm going to die anyway, I'm going to take one with me."
CAMPBELL SAYS SHE DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL POLICE TOLD HER... THAT SHE'D SHOT THE MAN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE STOMACH.
POLICE SAY THAT PERSON WAS BRENTON SPENCER.
HE WAS TAKEN TO THE MEDICAL CENTER FOR TREATMENT. THE MEDICAL CENTER TODAY SAID HE'S STILL THERE... BUT THEY COULD NOT RELEASE HIS CONDITION.
WHEN HE'S RELEASED... HE'LL BE TAKEN TO THE BIBB COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER.
POLICE SAY THEY'RE STILL LOOKING FOR THE SECOND SUSPECT... DANTRE SHIVERS.
ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ABOUT SHIVERS' WHEREABOUTS IS ASKED TO CALL CRIMESTOPPERS AT 1-877-68-CRIME.

FIRING A GUN IN SELF-DEFENSE COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE... BUT LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS SAY YOU SHOULD WAIT FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO PULL THE TRIGGER
LIEUTENANT ANNETTE HORN WITH THE BIBB COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SAYS YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SHOOT... BUT ONLY IF ANOTHER PERSON PULLS OUT A WEAPON OR THREATENS YOUR LIFE.
SHE SAYS THAT PERSON MUST BE WITHIN SEVEN YARDS OR 21 FEET BEFORE YOUR RAISE YOUR BARREL.
SHE ALSO SAYS LEARNING ABOUT YOUR GUN IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS USING IT. "Don't wait until the last minute to realize that you don't have a bullet chambered in your weapon and you cant figure out why its not shooting and then the bad guy gets your weapon and uses it against you or someone else. We don't want that to happen"
HORN SAYS PEOPLE SHOULD KEEP THEIR EYE ON A FEW KEY FEATURES BEFORE BUYING A GUN FOR SELF-DEFENSE.
a lot of women like this, it has the recessed hammer on it so it doesnt get caught in yuor pocketbook or things of that nature, it makes fr easy access coming out of a pocketbook in a situation where you find yourself with an attacker.

THE TRIAL OF FORMER WARNER ROBINS CITY COUNCILMAN JOHN WILLIAMS BEGAN TODAY.

LORRA LYNCH JONES HAS A RECAP OF TODAY'S EVENTS IN COURT.
<<JOHN WILLIAMS ARRIVED AT THE FEDERAL COURT HOUSE ABOUT 8-30 MONDAY.. WITH HIS WIFE... ELNA.
THE JUDGE CALLED THE COURT TO ORDER AT NINE FOR JURY SELECTION... THAT WOULD LAST UNTIL ABOUT FOUR IN THE AFTERNOON... WHEN THE TRIAL FINALLY STARTED.
JURY SELECTION TOOK AN UNUSUALLY LONG TIME... BECAUSE MANY OF THE JURORS INDICATED THAT THEY EITHER KNEW JOHN WILLIAMS OR WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE CASE. THE JUDGE AND THE ATTORNEY'S INTERVIEWED ABOUT 40 OF THEM BEHIND CLOSED DOORS... TO SCREEN THEM FOR POSSIBLE BIAS.

MCCOMMON CALLED IT A KICK-BACK.
HE SAYS THE F-B-I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE CASE... THROUGH THEIR INFORMANT... NAHIR JABAR... WHO GOES BY THE NAME OF CAMEL.
HE SAID CAMEL HAS PROVIDED INFORMATION TO F-B-I... IN EXCHANGE FOR A VISA... THAT ALLOWS HIM TO STAY IN THE COUNTRY... SINCE 2002.
CAMEL WAS INVOLVED IN THIS DEAL... BECAUSE HE HAD TIES TO THE AUTO DEALERSHIP... SIGNATURE AUTO...THAT SOLD THE TRUCK.
MCCOMMON SAID MUCH OF THE EVIDENCE WILL BE FROM RECORDED AUDIO AND VIDEO CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN JOHN WILLIAMS AND CAMEL.. AND THAT ONE ALLEGEDLY SHOWS WILLIAMS ACCEPTING THE 17-HUNDRED PAYMENT FOR THE TRUCK.
THE DEFENSE COUNTERED THOSE STATEMENTS BY SAYING THAT CAMEL'S VISA WAS ABOUT TO BE UP... SO HE NEEDED FRESH INFORMATION FOR THE F-B-I.
TINA HUNT CLAIMS CAMEL COERCED WILLIAMS INTO TAKING THE MONEY. SHE SAYS WILLIAMS DID ACCEPT IT... BUT NOT IN HIS OFFICIAL CAPACITY AS A COUNCILMEMBER.
SHE SAID THAT'S PROBABLY UNETHICAL.... BUT NOT CRIMINAL.. AND SHE SAYS SHE'LL PROVE THAT DURING THE TRIAL.
