((NARR-1))

AT SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES IN SANFORD, THERE WERE PRAYERS FOR JUSTICE FOR 17 YEAR OLD TRAYVON MARTIN.

(PIC)

HE WAS SHOT AND KILLED LAST MONTH AS HE WALKED THROUGH A SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD.

((SOT)) REV. VALERIE HOUSTON /Allen AME Church

"Trayvon's mother put it so profoundly. She said for her this is not an issue or black and white, a race issue, it's an issue about right and wrong."

((NARR-2))

BUT SOME MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH INSIST RACE IS THE HEART OF THE ISSUE.

((SOT)) Thomas Mayes/Allen AME Church Member

"If it was a black man shot a white kid he would have been locked up and it would have never gotten this far. It would have been over."

((NARR-3))

28 YEAR OLD NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH CAPTAIN GEORGE ZIMMERMAN ADMITS HE SHOT MARTIN. HE'S CLAIMING SELF-DEFENSE UNDER FLORIDA'S "STAND YOUR GROUND LAW" -- WHICH ELIMINATES A PERSON'S DUTY TO RETREAT WHEN THREATENED.

THE REVEREND JESSE JACKSON SPOKE AT A CHURCH IN EATONVILLE , FLORIDA, ... AND ALSO COMMENTED ON THE LAW.

((sot)) Rev. Jesse Jackson

"They set a climate of shoot first, and talk later. The stand your ground laws gives power that should be in the hands of trained police officers. "

((STANDUP BRIDGE)) Randall Pinkston, CBS News, Sanford, FL

"Local police say they have little evidence to disprove Zimmerman's self-defense claim. A grand jury will be convened next month to consider whether to bring state charges."

((SOT)) Gov. Rick Scott/(R) Florida 09:04:16 SCH1 CNN
